Synopsis:

Geophysicist Dr. Josh Keyes discovers that an unknown force has caused the earth's inner core to stop rotating. With the planet's magnetic field rapidly deteriorating, our atmosphere literally starts to come apart at the seams with catastrophic consequences. To resolve the crisis, Keyes, along with a team of the world's most gifted scientists, travel into the earth's core. Their mission: detonate a device that will reactivate the core.

Impossible. But good "smart people saving the world" film. Great actors and some amazing digital imagery. Jules Verne would be proud!

The Core (2003)

The problem with this movie is that it exists in a world of scientific fact. But it's entertaining, it's full of great actors (Aaron Eckhart, Hilary Swank, Stanley Tucci), and it's suspenseful - even if it's the kind of suspense that you know how it's gonna turn out.

The Core (2003)

This reminded me of those 60's action sci-fi films and as long as you're just looking for a fun time, you can't go wrong here. It also has the added bonus of Delroy Lindo in a major role, and that never hurts.
