The Killing (1956)

Well scripted, beautifully shot and possessing that film-noir sexiness, The Killing is full of technical merit, but there seemed to be little attempt to impart feeling for any of the characters. Deliberate or not, it left me cold and ultimately a little disappointed.

  2. ross Maybe, but this is the first Kubrick movie I've been bothered by it. I literally felt nothing at the end.

  3. ross Those early scenes were so rushed - it was almost like the heist was underway before it we knew why each person was involved. I'd have liked a little more backstory on each of the characters.

  4. wintermayer Well I have yet to see this one but just from other Kubrick's, and just reading/hearing about the man, he seems like he gives less than a damn about his characters (or actors for that matter).
