Go (1999)

The Scott Wolf/Jay Mohr segment was pretty enjoyable, the other 2 segments however were misguided opportunism and outright stupidity/impulse control leading to bad results. Was fine at best but didn't live up to the hype. Shows how little I miss portrayals of raver culture.

  2. wintermayer I did like Olyphantastic. I liked most of the performances, just thought that there were far too many dumb decisions being made that I ended up with no sympathy for most of the shit the characters got themselves in. I hated the character of Simon so much though and I also found Sarah Polley's recovery to be total story driven bullshit. There's no way I believed that she just got up from her hospital bed the next morning... and then to add to it was fine enough to go to work with nothing but a limp. It has such a good cult film reputation that I expected more than it could deliver.

  3. ross I hear ya. The Simon/Vegas story was definitely the least interesting of the three. But Polley's unrealistic survival didn't bother me as much as how annoying she was. I'll probably give it a slightly higher rating though because of a few great scenes with Olyphant and Fitchner, and how rewatchable it is.

  4. wintermayer It wasn't even that she lived, just how little damage she came out of it with. That and Simon was irritating to the point of wanting to commit self harm just to take my mind off of his constant stupidity.
