Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

Nominated for every major Oscar category, which absolutely blows my mind. This movie was good at best. Very good cast (see Jacki Weaver in Animal Kingdom!), but nothing spectacular about the performances. The story was alright, but cookie-cutter predictable and cliche.

  3. dirty Good comparison. It was totally enjoyable, but in the context that it had just gotten all these nominations I was astounded that it just felt like a run-of-the-mill feel good story.

  9. MikkoP What says a lot about the state of the industry is the fact that James Cameron is already talking about how Avatar 4 is going to be a prequel.

  12. MildredFierce Three shows! Three shows! And what a smash they were, right? Mikko, I don't admonish their hooking for viewers, but I still feel he's an odd choice *for* their audience. Do Family Guy and the Oscars share a core audience? I don't feel they would but perhaps I'm misinformed.. Anyway, a little integrity would be nice.
