Interstellar (2014)

A bold attempt at the sci-fi epic ruined by plot holes and sentimentality. Nolan wanted to make the next 2001, but he has neither the patience nor the discipline to develop his ideas into anything coherent, let alone philosophical. Interstellar is a visual treat, but little more.

  1. jordan Yeesh. Why do I get the feeling that this number (and some of the other review's numers) would be way lower than a 68 if this was directed by Billy Klubb instead of a guy people respect like Christopher Nolan?

  2. ross I guess it didn't anger me as much as say Prometheus, which I found offensively bad and gave a failing grade. But you're right. The more I think about the movie and tone of my review, 68 is far too high. It does deserve some credit for a few great sequences, though it fails at what it set out to too. Does that warrant a sub 50 score?

  4. ross Edit: After thinking this over, if I'm to stick to the "grading like a teacher" system, Interstellar is a failure and should receive a failing grade. I've reduced my score to 48.
