MikkoPThe casting director makes me not want to watch this, but I'm pretty sure I eventually will.

smittywho was the casting director? and what's your motivation there? i'm genuinely curious.

MikkoPI guess that was a bit of an isolated comment. When I say casting director I just mean the cast in general, I'm sure they are all fantastic performers. But there is a difference in getting "good actors" and getting "good actors for the role". Other than Keaton I'd argue they were looking for actors that are on top of the mountain already rather than getting maybe some A-minus - B-listers that would be perfect for the roles. I'd Compare it with Gone Girl (and anything David Fincher) where his CD is straight incredible, she got Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry, Rose Pike, and that guy I really liked from an episode of House into one of the sure to be best films of the year, and they all couldn't be more perfectly slotted to their roles. I'm not saying Birdman is bad because of this I'm just saying Gone Girl was elevated to another level (though I'll probably end up enjoying Birdman more).
MikkoPAnother way to put it would be " You could spend an hour and name 2 people for each role in Birdman that would have been more fitting"

smittyi see your point--i think.:) i'd have to say who gives a shit about ben affleck, but that's just me. me, i'd rather see a film cast with actors who can actually act well, i couldn't give a shit about their position as A-list or B-list. those rankings have nothing to do with talent, in my opinion.
if you haven't watched this one yet, check it out; big names or small names aside, it's a great film, judged on it's artistic merits.
