All Is Lost (2013)

Nothing short of technical perfection, but spartan enough to turn some away. Expect a spellbinding show from Redford who at almost eighty dominates in a highly physical performance. A mammoth achievement for Bob and a touching tale of Our Man.

All Is Lost (2013)

I like these kinds of films, but this one didn't work for me. It's impressive technically and I respect the minimalistic approach, but there's something missing. It's too clinical. Redford is solid, but we don't learn enough about his character to really care what happens.

All Is Lost (2013)

The marine equivalent to Gravity (yes the sea is scary), I'd add that solitude is vertiginous. Gripping performance by Redford in an almost silent role. Just be ready to face one man alone on his boat for a couple of hours.

All Is Lost (2013)

Oh the despair!! Man, you really get brought along on an emotional ride here, which speaks well of the smart direction and very solid performance. For a movie with one actor and probably 10 words spoken throughout it, this movie is riveting. Stressful viewing experience though.
