A lot to respect here. You can really feel Herzog's gravitas, but I will say that it didn't grip me in the way that I'd hoped.

Into the Abyss (2011)

Herzog sinks his teeth into the meaty subject of capital punishment and delivers a moving and thought-provoking film that (wisely) avoids getting too political. The interviews that comprise the bulk of the film are revealing, touching, bewildering and never boring.
