Les Misérables (2012)

What a miserable screening of speak-singing! While I adored the on-stage performance back in the 1990s, this "Miz" is nothing but a miss.

I love this musical, but didn't love the movie - it was way too long. Interestingly shot and staged, Hugh Jackman was great, and i must say Anne Hathaway won me over(never was a fan of hers before).

Trois heures, trop tortueux. All other aspects are adequate.

You know I'd thought I'd really hate all the singing. But man, Crowe and Jackman are just too good.

This is my all time favourite musical and I was both excited and scared to see this version. Overall, it was just what I wanted. Highlights: Hathaway, Jackman. Both gave amazing performances. Lowlights: Crowe and the new song. I was bored by both. But Crowe grew on me throughout

Let's get one thing straight: I am a massive fan of the musical. I saw it three times as a boy, and the effects remain. Intense, long single-shot performances by the stars are solid, though Crow is somewhat dispassionate as Javert. Musicals are sometimes best left as such.

I know it's a musical, but they didn't just sing songs, they sang EVERYTHING. During the most dramatic moments, wars, rapes, the moment of self-refelction prior to death. If Rose and Jack had sung their dialogue while the Titanic was sinking we would have thought that was dumb.

If you enjoy musicals this is the one to see. A full on in your face drama that takes you up close and personal. Anne Hathaways stunning performance steals the show but Hugh Jackman/ Russel Crowe don't do a bad job either. Be prepared to be emotionally wrung out by the end!

I'm only going to like a musical so much, but this was good, impressive even. Not sure about Crowe in it, but Jackman and Hathaway were very good. Hey - if I can stay interested in a 3 hour musical the whole way through it must have been pretty good.
