Paths of Glory (1957)

One of the most frustrating, depressing, anger-inducing films I've ever seen. There's no glamour or glory to be found here, just a bleak reminder of the absurdities of war. The anti-war message is far from subtle, but it's damn effective and never preachy. All round excellent.
