The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)

I can't compare this it to any other adaptations, but this one sure is fun. It keeps things light and playful, preferring sword fights to character study, and it's better off because of it. Guy Pearce is excellent as the villain, and how can you not love Luis Guzman?

The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)

Brilliant adaptation with wonderful one-liners. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be great - I expected an acceptable entertaining action film. It's got comedy, romance, action, drama... and Guy Pearce - what more do you want?

The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)

This version of the old story is a great action adventure film. Guy Pearce is a favorite of mine and he plays a great villain here. Luis Guzman seems a little out of place at first but he does end up working out reasonably well.
