The Iron Lady (2011)

The Iron Lady deserves so much more. This is a movie about dementia and loss of a loved one - in that regard it's touching. Margaret Thatcher's economic policies, her principles, her instincts, her management of various situations in economics and foreign policy are all missed.

So it took Maggie dying for me to actually watch this. And you know? I'm glad I did. Streep is dynamite, although I didn't learn much (the Falkland Islands are located on the Patagonian Shelf). Thatcher isn't humanized so much as she is mortalized.

The Iron Lady (2011)

Streep's performance was too good for this movie. The movie was less about the life and political rise/struggles of one of the most powerful and hard-nosed females of the 20th century than it was a less than compelling Alzheimer's movie. No secondary characters were developed.

The Iron Lady (2011)

Not what I expected at all. It's more of a story about Alzheimer's than one of politics. Fascinating story and Streep is, as usual, wonderful. Worth the watch. But I did want to see more of a bio pic.
