Her (2013)

A real emotional odyssey. My thoughts on Her are a jumbled mess, but Jonze always has that effect on me. What matters is that I was captivated from start to finish and while at times this read like an iPhone commercial, I still came out of it feeling six feet off the ground.

  2. MikkoP Also I think they just added Chris Pratt so it wouldn't fail the Harem test (the reverse Bechdel).

  3. MildredFierce Joaquin for sure, and I don't usually find him likeable. All Samantha really had to do was sound warm. In re: Chris Pratt, he was the least necessary character in the movie. And I'm alarmed the Harem test is a thing.

  4. MikkoP If its not I'm coining it. I didn't really see it until I saw the main cast lined up, the movie was just so anti-sleaze I didn't even notice it was just one guy bouncing around girls.

  6. MikkoP Also what's your pick for FOTY 2012? I think it's this. Every other big cut movie I've felt has had sort of soft, flabby writing. Gravity is almost there just because space and 3D and stuff.

  8. MildredFierce Still not interested. I've heard mostly ehn reviews. Don't discount Gravity 'cause it's baitey, it was still great. What's the Uls and why the hype?
