American Hustle (2013)
Christian Bale gives a fine performance as a con man who bites off more than he can chew in this complicated con flick. A good script with an ending I did not see coming. Cudos to Jennifer Lawrence who did a great job as his crazed wifed. Now go turn on your science oven!

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
It's well put together, entertaining and at times funny and the performances are good, and it'll probably win a bunch of awards, but I found the subject matter disturbing. Do we really need another film that glorifies a-holes on Wall Street who reap people of their savings?

Warm Bodies (2013)
Can't say that I'm a big fan of Zombie films, but this was a cute, new, take on an already saturated genre. Also, the fact that it is shot and set in Montreal using Mirabel/the Big O, and the Turcot expressway is an extra bonus!

Mud (2013)
A brilliant update to the Huck/Finn story. The director totally captures the quiet, scary, south where trouble is brewing around every street corner, bush or swamp. It has the same feel as HUD, another brilliant southern flick. McConaughey is first rate!

Searching for Sugar Man (2012)
Great doc, interesting story and lovely music. He kinda reminds me of an American version of Nick Drake. I also love that once a bit of fame did eventually come to him, he still remained humble and close to his roots. A class act all the way.

Inside Man (2006)
Spike Lee does a fine job of putting together essentially an updated version of Dog Day Afternoon. The interspersed interviews with the hostages as the story evolves gives this is a nice docu-drama feel . Gotta say, I have always had a liking for heist movies and this one works.

War Horse (2011)
Definitely a sentimental tear jerker for animal lovers but, frankly I ain't buying that any horse is strong/charming/smart/lucky enough to out wit the British army, the German army, local french Peasants and American farmers. Historically fun, but a little far fetched.
